Several residents along Jalan SS9A/4 in Sungai Way, Petaling Jaya, are upset over a road-widening project which has been carried out without their consent.

The residents of the 12 houses along the stretch said the road was widened without consulting them.

Residents’ representative Francis Chang said they now had a federal-sized road right in front of their houses.

“This could pose a danger to all of us,” Chang said, adding that schoolchildren would be in danger of getting knocked down by motorists.

Chang said the road-widening work was part of the Taipan Focus Sdn Bhd project to build a township known as Park 51.

“Who approved the project in the first place and why weren’t we consulted? We want answers from our assemblyman Lau Weng San. They are even working on a Sunday. Isn’t this violating the Petaling Jaya City Council regulations?” Chang asked, adding that the noise and dust from the construction had also disturbed their peace.
