Joint ops to nab offenders

SEREMBAN: The state Road Transport Department issued 359 summonses during a two-day joint operation at the Senawang rest area, near here, starting Thursday night.

The operation also involved officers from the traffic police force, Immigration Department, National Anti-Drugs Agency, Customs Department and the Road and Safety Department.

State RTD director Kamal Saad said there were 615 offenders from the 3,336 vehicles inspected.

"The RTD alone issued 359 summonses for various offences, including expired licences, tinted windows and car modifications.

"An express bus was impounded as it had a false permit and an expired road tax. A lorry was also seized because the driver's driving licence had expired."
