KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic on the North-South Expressway is expected to be heavy from Wednesday as more people begin to travel to their hometowns and villages for the Aidilfitri celebration.

A PLUS spokesman said traffic at the Sungai Besi toll plaza was normal up to this morning as many people in the Klang Valley were still going to work and not on leave yet.

"We expect people to go back to their hometowns and villages tomorrow and on Thursday," he said when contacted.

Meanwhile, 14 deaths were reported on the fourth day of Ops Sikap, taking to 58 the death toll since the launch on Friday of the operation to reduce road accidents during the Aidilfitri festive season.

The police website revealed that 10 of the dead were motorcyclists and the other four, motorists or their passengers.
