PETALING JAYA: Traffic flow on the North-South Expressway (NSE) during the morning rush hour has improved since the ban on heavy vehicles took effect, said PLUS Expressways Bhd.

PLUS managing director Noorizah Abd Hamid said its traffic monitoring centre and ground personnel reported significant improvement in traffic flow on the New Klang Valley Expressway between Shah Alam and Jalan Duta, the North-South Expressway between Sungai Buloh and Bukit Lanjan and at the Federal Highway Route 2 between Subang and Sg Rasau.

Since Aug 2, heavy vehicles weighing 10 tonnes and more, excluding buses, have been banned from using the three stretches from 6.30am to 9.30am on weekdays.

“PLUS Expressways would like to thank the lorry operators for their understanding and cooperation.

“We have also received many phone calls, SMS and e-mail from the public who expressed happiness with the new ruling,” Noorizah said in a statement yesterday.
