PETALING JAYA: Certain road stretches will be widened to ease the perennial morning traffic jam along the Federal Highway and the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP).

Highway concessionaire Lingkaran Trans Kota Sdn Bhd (Litrak) chief executive officer Sazally Saidi said the congestion on the LDP every morning was because of the tail-back effect from the Federal Highway.

“We are still discussing with the Public Works Department (JKR) and the Malaysian Highway Authority to look into possible solutions and considering the possibility of widening the Federal Highway to have extra capacity,” he told reporters during the Litrak Hari Raya open house yesterday.

Sazally added that the other option would be to have a traffic management scheme where authorities would be stationed at specific locations to reduce vehicles from “criss-crossing” over lanes by putting temporary cones on the road.
