HIGHWAY users were given good news to last five years – that’s how long toll rates on four stretches of the PLUS Expressway will not be increased.

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the freeze on toll rate hikes, effective immediately, was to alleviate the burden on highway users. He, however, did not specify the four highways.

PLUS Expressway operates and maintains a 973km stretch of inter-urban toll expressways in the peninsular from Kedah in the north to Johor in the south, linking all major cities along the west coast.

PLUS operates seven highways – North-South Expressway, New Klang Valley Expressway, Federal Highway Route Two, Seremban-Port Dickson Highway, North-South Expressway Central Link, Malaysia-Singapore Second Link and Butterworth-Kulim Expressway.

Najib also announced the construction of new highways – Ampang-Cheras-Pandan Elevated Highway, Guthrie-Damansara Expressway, Damansara-Petaling Jaya Highway, Pantai Barat-Banting-Taiping Highway, Sungai Dua-Juru Highway and Paroi-Senawang-KLIA Highway.
