THANKS to good market response to its GPS Navigator, K-One Technology Bhd is inspired to launch its latest product called the Multi-PC System.
The new product, which comes with graphics card, USB audio hub and software, allows up to five users to share the computing power of a single host computer.
“Two to five users are able to surf the Internet using a single modem, phone line and Internet account; all from the host computer,” said K-One Technology group chairman Edwin Lim Beng Fook.
He was speaking at the launch of the product in Kuala Lumpur recently. The best part is that each user has a unique customised desktop and network login, and the ability to run popular applications independently.
The programs include wordprocessing, spreadsheet, database and e-mail applications.
Users can also share computer peripherals such as printer, modem, CD-ROM reader and communication networks (dial-up or ISDN lines) simultaneously.
For Multi-PC System to work, install the software and graphics card to the host computer.
For example, if you want to share the host computer with three users, you need to install three graphics cards into the motherboard (depending on the VGA slots available on the board).
The USB audio hub, which must be connected to the host computer, comes with four USB ports (to connect keyboard, mouse, thumb drives, etc), speaker and mic output for the earphone jack.
The target market for the Multi-PC System is not restricted to companies but also home users, schools, clinics, libraries and Internet cafes.
It runs on the Microsoft Windows XP (Professional/Home Edition) or Windows Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business or Ultimate Edition).
The Multi-PC System, which is retailing at RM1,250, includes software, a PCI/PCI-E VGA graphics card, USB Audio Hub, USB and VGA combo cables (5m long).
Great expectations
With the launch of the Multi-PC System, the company expects the new product to bring in sales of between RM5mil and RM10mil.
“We hope the launch of the Multi-PC System will be another milestone that signifies the transformational growth of K-One — from being an original equipment and design manufacturer to a brand owner,” said Lim.
K-One is also planning to establish sales offices in Britain, Germany and the United States.
Despite the current financial crisis, the company is optimistic about establishing sales offices overseas because of lower operational costs to set up such offices now.
Last year (from January to September), the company’s sales revenue was RM44mil. It made a net profit of RM3.5mil.
