Plan to curb 'jaga kereta' menace

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Island Municipal Council (MPPP) plans to set up an auxiliary enforcement unit to arrest illegal parking attendants or "jaga kereta" boys.

The "jaga kereta" boys are believed to charge exorbitant parking fees, and motorists usually pay because they are afraid their vehicles might get vandalised if they refuse to do so.

On Sunday, a housewife escaped from being hit with a baton belonging to a "jaga kereta" boy when she refused to pay him RM10.
